About Anthony
Medical Expert Witness specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat surgery
My name is Anthony Robinson and practiced in West and North West London as a Consultant Ear Nose & Throat Surgeon for over thirty years. I was Head of Department at the West Middlesex University Hospital, Isleworth, Middlesex for over 25 years. I enjoyed treating adults and children and have often had the privilege of treating several generations of the same family. I listened carefully to my patients as I understand how important that is to making the right diagnosis and the best treatment plan, considering each patient’s individual needs. I am known for my gentle and caring approach and am fortunate to be working with a well established team of doctors and support staff that I know well and have worked with for many years.
Although I am a surgeon, most of my patients do not need to have surgery and are often treated with medication or lifestyle adjustments. However, if I think that surgery would be beneficial this option will always be explained in detail and carefully considered in conjunction with the patient, or parent.
I trained at The Middlesex Hospital Medical School (now part of University College Hospital, London). I had training in general surgery and plastic surgery before I started my specialist training in Ear Nose & Throat surgery. This was undertaken at The Royal Ear Nose & Throat Hospital, The Royal Free Hospital and other hospitals in London & Guildford. During this time I won sponsorship for research which I carried out at Toronto General Hospital, Canada. I spent over 25 years as Lead Consultant in Ear Nose & Surgery at The West Middlesex University Hospital, Isleworth (latterly Chelsea & Westminster Hospital) until 2017 until I left to concentrate on my private patients.
“Anthony has made such a huge difference!”
Education and Qualifications
I qualified as a doctor from the Middlesex Hospital Medical School, London in 1979. When I trained as a junior hospital doctor there were no training schemes for surgery. I therefore designed my own training scheme incorporating general and upper gastro-intestinal surgery, accident and emergency work, neurosurgery, plastic surgery and ENT surgery.
I trained as an ENT surgeon at the Royal National throat nose and ear Hospital Grays Inn Road and Golden Square, the Royal Free Hospital, London and the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford. In 1987, as a senior registrar in ENT surgery, I undertook a fellowship in the University of Toronto in middle ear research. During my time there I was able to significantly advanced the understanding of wax impaction and the management of patients with problems associated with excessive production and blockage due to wax. I also researched aspects of cholesteatoma pathogenesis and treatment.
My qualifications are MB.BS, FRCS Otolaryngology-England
I was awarded the Xomed-Treace national prize for original research in Otolaryngology in 1989. I was appointed Consultant ENT surgeon at the West Middlesex University Hospital, Isleworth, Middlesex in 1990.
